First of all, the problem begins with, and ends with, evidence. There is "truth" when groups of people believe it. For example, DID the virgin Mary really appear to the children at Fatima? The point is that it is very difficult to gage personal experience for actual truth.
Samuel Adams when asked about the probability of ghosts being real answered, "Ghosts have existed beside humankind from the first. How can I deny the possibility?"
There is a difference between the possibility that ghosts exist (we have not proven otherwise) and the probability that they do.
